Pyrolytic carbon saddle anyone?
« on: February 24, 2013, 01:00:39 PM »
Evidently, these have been around since 2009. Anyone seem them or tried one? Seems like another interesting way to shape tone on your guitar. I'm thinking you have to send in your saddle for them to duplicate but, hmmm. Might be worth a try. Lot's of folks with carbon fiber guitars are saying they add that acoustic "woody" sound they want. Some are even saying it makes a guitar easier to sing with.

I not selling anything here. I just thought I'd ask if you folks know anything about them. If they are not too expensive, I'm thinking about giving it a shot.

Here's a quote from and R&D guy and a couple links to a company who makes them.

We make several different types of Black Diamond saddles. Black Diamond is Obbligato, Inc's trade mark name for this form of carbon. It is Pyrolytic carbon not to be confused with pyrolytic graphite. We make solid carbon versions, and hybrids right now. The other material is a proprietary material to make the carbon fibers have a more conventional wood tone. We also make other products with this form of carbon too like picks, and are developing many other products for other stringed instruments too.
