Lusting for a really special Taylor 12 fret

Very nice! I'm really close to getting one of those but I'm holding out to see if they offer a wider neck width down the road...

The great thing about Taylors is that they don't have to look fancy to sound and play great -- I'll put my 210 up against any of Taylor's dreadnoughts any day! :)

This is what Honey Sunburst normally looks like. As you can see, it's much darker around the edges:

https://www.haggertysmusic.com//components/com_virtuemart/shop_image/product/taylor_614ce_07.jpg

This looks more like tobacco to me; however, my time is too valuable to quibble over the color. When the past issues of Wood & Steel are available, they will show the previous burst colors that used to be available. :)

edited to remove hot-linked commerical pic

Here's a pic of my 2001 honey sunburst 514 (engelmann top) for reference. I believe that 2001 was the first year that Taylor offered burst finishes:

My Taylor Grand Auditoriums:

1997 Cujo14 - old growth cedar/black walnut
2014 K24e - master grade koa
2018 Custom GA - bear claw sitka spruce/mahogany
2019 614 - torrified sitka spruce/flamed maple
2020 714 - lutz spruce/rosewood

Cindy, your guitar is just gorgeous. I am taken every time I scroll thru this thread. And I do like Macassar!

Out of curiosity, is the top cedar? And the added striping is what kind of wood?

I asked for some striping on my Adi top with the shaded edgeburst:

My GA3 has a little striped ebony on its fretboard so I also asked if striped ebony was an option for a BTO fretboard as I had never seen one specifically made that way before. The fretboard and bridge are Macassar Ebony.

And the back is Madagascar Rosewood.

Blackbird, Froggy Bottom, Gibson, Goodall, Hatcher,
Kanile'a, Kinnard, Kwasnycia, Martin, Rainsong,
Ryan, Santa Cruz, Taylor, Voyage Air, Weber

The top is premium Adi with Adi bracing. I also asked for some striping on the top. I didn't necessarily mean striping from the grain...I have a sitka top that has 1/2" alternating light and dark striping across the top (not from the grain). But hey, this one has a striped top. ;) And the fretboard has striping on it too...instead of just being ebony, it is Macassar Ebony. There was an upcharge for that wood on the fretboard and the bridge, but it's beautiful! :)

I wanted a striped theme...the only other thing I could have gotten instead was a sinker redwood top that would have had striping, but I do LOVE the edgeburst, and I don't think I would have liked an edgeburst on sinker redwood. :D

Sinker with Edgeburst is nicer than you might think!

Hi John and welcome to the forum. :) Any way to get a larger pic of the back? It's hard to see exactly what this ovangkol looks like.
