My XXX-RS Finally Needed Work
« on: December 21, 2012, 09:32:38 AM »
I find it hard to believe but, since it's initial setup, I've never done anything to my XXX-RS except change strings!
All of my other guitars have needed a Winter and a Summer truss rod tweak. Never anything major, maybe 1/8 turn.
After the last string change, the D string  started buzzing. As it turns out, the nut(Tusq) was just plain worn out.
My local Taylor repair center replaced it with a bone nut and still didn't need to tweak the truss rod!

I'd certainly like to find out where the secret behind this situation lies...an exceptionally stable piece of mahogany
for the neck? Just a lucky combination of woods overall? Imagine if this secret could be found!
Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana.

i think the correct laser cut spacers & laminate neck block could have something to do with it also
along with the short scale & light gauge strings ... pretty low maintenance for a 8+ year old guitar :)
