Another NGD on the way
« on: August 07, 2012, 01:10:46 PM »
Just had to tell somebody. My wife couldn't care less  :-\

Got the call from my dealer today and a copy of the UPS-tracking. Finally my 914ce w/cedar is on the way. Estimated time off arrivel is august 9th. ;D

It's been a long wait! Exactly 4 months to the day.

Like Christmas Eve when you're a kid!  Congrats on the almost-there new guitar!  Add me to the list of those who want to see photos.  Maybe your wife's opinion will change when she sees the excitement in your face on the new arrival?

I just mentioned your new guitar to my wife and she got all excited.  Hmmmm... nah, that would be like putting a $100 saddle on a $10 horse.  I'm just an old rock 'n roller banging out chords, but I can appreciate a fine instrument.

Congratulations, and happy waiting.

Best wishes,
Captain Jim

Ahhh yesss , congrats from fellow guitar geeks who truly care ...as co-dependents would!  :)

I love cedar, and personally prefer it paired with RW over the more typical sitka/rw.  There's another forumite here who has this combo in his 914.  Great choice ...congrats!

I'll bet you do. For 4 months now I've been looking at the pics of your 914 in the previous thread  :)

Got an email and a picture today from my dealer. The guitar has arrived. Will pick it up tomorrow  :)

can't wait to see your pics :)

I'm really happy with mine but havent had time to take better pics.

I'll be curious if you think the tone is quieter than other rw/cedar combos like the 714ce

congrats and it will sound as amazing as it looks, trust me :)

Well picked up the guitar on Friday. And it is everything I hoped it would be.  It plays like a dream and looks even better. Find myself just looking at it instead of playing ;D

I do think it is a bit on the quieter side. Especially when fingerpicked, witch I think is peculiar. I was under the impression that cedar would project sound better with light touches(?). Strummed or flatpicked I don't noticed any difference. Actually sounds amazing when it's strummed.

Did change string to Daddario Exp 16 and the sound clearly improved when fingerpicked. Will also try a sett of Elixsir phosphor bronze and see what happens.

Also my dealer spoke with Taylor. They said since it's almost straight of the line it, will take a month or two to open up

I"ll only got cell-phone pics for now. And they don't do the guitar justice. Post pics soon.
