Summer Wood & Steel starting to appear
« on: July 03, 2012, 07:41:56 PM »
I read in another forum where folks in the U.S. are just now starting to receive their copies of Wood & Steel.  After you get yours, let me know if my article on open-mics feels relevant to your experience.  It was a lot of fun to write and working with Taylor's editor was a joy.

Dennis, I thought your article was spot on. Great advice. Took me back quite a few years to my first open mic if you can call it that ... More of a coffee house. I wasn't actually on the schedule. A friend and I went to listen and scope it out. About half an hour in I hear my friend yell "Have Dennis sing one!"  Then everyone  in the room was looking around for Dennis. Very reluctantly I agreed, picked "Rocky Racoon" to sing cause I knew it well. When I got to the part where Daniel gets shot someone slammed something on the floor which sounded like a shot. I nearly came unglued but was able to keep it together and finished the song to the whole place singing along. A very uplifting experience.

I really enjoyed your article. Glad to see Taylor decided to publish it.

Mine showed up in the mailbox today. I flipped through it while walking up the driveway and saw your article in there. Can't wait to read it but won't get a chance to until later.

 What, Dennis wrote an article?

Congrats on making it into W&S. Wow, 2 pages, impressive.

My 314ce, at times, sounds so wonderful, I lose focus... just to listen. That's a new problem for me, but not a bad one.
