Wow ...another virtuoso: kudos to him!

That first vid is funny, tough, in that he seems to be playing while setup/teardown is happening around him ...sheesh, like he's some kind of "filler act"!!  He needs more respect that that with those kind of chops, wow!!

BTW, I am such a "conventional" guitar player (who had long ago aspirations of being EVH-like but then woke up  to my limitations :) ) so have only the slightest notion of what this kid is doing.  Can someone enlighten me on this technique ...seems like slap bass meets flamenco meets Eddie.  Again, wow!

That's what it looks like to me. The top is definitely cedar and the back and sides look like EIR from what I can tell. Nice guitar, and that kid is amazing. I wonder if he always plays solo or if he plays in a band too.

That was fun!  I would try that, but nearly 50 years of "muscle memory" in these old hands, plus something about "old dogs and new tricks" leads me to believe it would be more funny than fun.  ;)

I saw the video and immediately sat down and tried it. Thank goodness I was all alone at my place when I did! For all the reasons you mention.

I looked on Ben's site and see he is now 18 years old. It says he picked up his first guitar at the age of 12 so if he was 15 when the first link to YouTube was shot, he developed impressive guitar skills QUICKLY! In the second video, his wrist position is unusually low through quite of bit of the video--I don't mean that as a negative--it's surprising to see such technique and form especially after only 3 years of playing. I really enjoyed the second song which he wrote himself. :)
