The Voice - Taylor Guitars sighting
« on: March 06, 2012, 01:43:46 PM »
Does anyone watch?  I have just started to watch this season but I do like it, the blind auditions were fun and last night had the first "battle" round.  For anyone who doesn't know the show it's got 4 judges (called coaches) Blake Shelton, Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, and Adam Levine.  All have teams of 12 and they are supposed to whittle them down to the eventual winner at the end.

So, at one point Christina has Jewel come on to help with coaching and what do I see.......Taylor guitars!!  Too fast for me to tell what models they were (Michael your keen eye could pick these up I bet) and then at various times as the contestants were seen rehearsing there were Taylors in the frame.....yay.  I was sitting there strumming my Mini while watching and was like LOOK THERES SOME TAYLORS!!

Sidebar:  My non-playing hubby was like.....whatever, are they koa's? (that's all he knows).  Which is good.....BC he likes the BTO Koa I saw a few weeks ago......and last season's winner was Javier Colon who was featured in an issue of W&S......ok, back on topic....

FWIW - the last battle between Team Christina's Jesse Campbell and Anthony Evans was OFF! THE!! CHARTS!!!  I don't know how she picked one they were both fantastic.

Same thing on American Idol!  Every single time they are rehearsing in the studio there is a Taylor sitting there on a stand so you can easily see it!

Last night there was a brief shot in the same frame as Jewel.  I think the band may be playing Taylors but I couldn't tell.  Also, one of the contestants of Adam's team was using what looked like a Taylor when they were rehearsing the Nirvana battle song.

Me personally, I just think Taylors sound fits the genres of music that you hear on those shows the best and that is why you see so many of them.  Where you see a ton of Gibson guitars in country and predominantly Martins in bluegrass, a Taylor just shines in rock/pop music.

Taylor is getting pretty good at product placement.

A couple of Taylors on the show this week - Raelynn was playing one, it was a quick shot but the sides looked like sapele.

Lots of clamor this week as Christina seemingly eliminated her sure thing and fan favorite Jesse on Monday's show but I think she's holding her opera singer Chris Mann card close to her chest.

I mean really, who can beat a trained opera singer in a voice competition!!!!??

Chris is a very good singer, and I was surprised to see Jesse go home.
Blake Shelton said he was just as surprised as viewers by his elimination choice in Tuesday's episode of "The Voice." But he wasn't basing his decision on the whole season, he said. And that's why we saw country spitfire RaeLynn get the boot, not Erin Willet.

He who loses money, loses much; he who loses a friend, loses more; he who loses faith, loses all.

Thought I'd dust this off for Season 3 - a nice Taylor on the show last night played by a Justin Bieber lookalike:

Alright, I'm reviving this thread because I just watched Bria Kelly sing an Adele song while playing a Taylor guitar.  Wow, she has got one heck of a voice....!

fall 2010 814ceFLTD 12 fret (engraved victorian fretmarkers) - nice & good mix on the guitar too :)

this is pretty 8) too
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PpzLb__cLyQ

there was also a spruce top grand auditorium (?) shape, with no pickguard that a "house band" member was playing -
couldn't see the tuners or headstock overlay material clearly enough, so i couldn't make a definite ID on that one

jake worthington

even if he doesn't win it, i think he's in it for the duration (very well polished, imho)

don't normally watch "star search" type shows, but i think this & nashville star (when it was around) is more palatable than AI
