I'm between a rock and a hard place...
« on: February 10, 2012, 07:03:07 PM »
I've played a 714ce that I have fallen in love with.  The only problem is that the wife has put a hold on buying guitars for the moment.  I can trade, which means I won't get what I want, or try to sell, which the market is awful right now.  Do I just wait it out?  This 714 sounds better than any cedar/eir that I've played.  I don't know what to do!!!

Sell something.  I played a 714ce, new 2011 model with a cedar top and like you, fell in love with it. I ended up ordering an 812ce with a cedar top as reported in this forum elsewhere.

So, put it on hold, sell a guitar and bring that baby into the stable!

Sellers market is abysmal right now (I know  :-\ ).  Sell if you have to or reaallllly want the 714.  But first try a trade.  It's a bit of a longshot, but offer up your wares for a 714 and see what comes up.  In that time, a buyer may present itself, as well.  Exercise your avenues ...you never know what can happen until you put feelers out :)

hi Boone,
i was just wondering what year model the 714ce was, er is ???
i can definitely relate to a certain 714 in very much the same way ;)

i didn't think to check to see if the one i'd played was still there tonite,
as i was a bit preoccupied with trying to work on something else :-\

i'm definitely putting the brakes on, as this last one had as much drama,
if not more, than buying a vehicle... not sales pressure, but 'negotiating' ::)

i'm hoping there will be a way that it'll work out for you -
lately, i've found that when trying to do a 'trade-in' at certain places, it ends up being
a 'deal' only if you're into the gear that you're trading for pretty much next-to-nothing :o

it's not about what you play,
it's all about why you play ...

It is a 2011.  I have resisted the urge to go there today and play nit again.  I'm hoping that I can resist for now, but only time will tell.  If I still feel as strongly about it in a few weeks, I think I'll run by and see if they still have it.  My only cocern is that it will be gone, but I'm going to have to let it play out and see what happens.  Or maybe I could just go visit it for a few minutes today...
