Hello from Oklahoma-old guy, new member I guess
« on: May 30, 2021, 10:08:06 PM »
I feel I have been a member of this forum before, but perhaps I never posted anything.   Anyway, I have playing guitar for 58 years and play all styles.  I have had several Taylors in the past...410s.  My latest purchase, just today, is a 214CE.   I also own an Academy series nylon string, and enjoy it very much.  I purchased the 214CE to thumb pick on...that is one of my favorite styles and I use a Gretsch CG and a Heritage Super Eagle for thumb picking, but I enjoy the sound of a good acoustic to thumb pick on also.   I have a Merle Travis album that he uses an acoustic on exclusively and I love it.   While I will never sound like that, I hope to have fun with my Taylor sittin on the front porch pickin'.   Another one of my favorite players is the late great Moon Mullins who used a Taylor guitar also.
Thanks and sorry for the long intro.

Welcome (back) Larry. You don't have to apologize for the long intro, we enjoy reading about our newer members. Congratulations on your new 214ce. It sounds like you have a real love for the guitar.  :)

Hey Larry,

Welcome from another old guy in Massachusetts. Been playing for about 55 years, some more than others. I find it very therapeutic, but more important, I just love playin'. Just picked up something new myself which is the new Epiphone Inspired-by-Gibson J-200. Which is their fancy way of saying they used solid woods on it. Slapped some Elixirs on it and it sounds just great. I guess you're never too old for a good case of G.A.S.

Be well,
Don, a big JJ Cale fan
