Howdy - glad to be here!
« on: January 19, 2021, 03:26:08 PM »
Thanks for approving my request to join!

I am a first time Taylor owner (bought in January 2021) and a lower intermediate player.  I play an obsessively large amount of Grateful Dead amongst others things!  I recently bought a K24ce Builder's Edition (yup I have no issues buying above my ability!)  You can check out some video's I've done on my youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/jkstraw

It is a beautiful guitar, just the acoustic sound I was looking for! I have two immediate questions I'll be searching for:

1.  A good transparent pickguard to protect the silent satin finish (I agree there is some romance in letting it wear naturally, ie. like Willie's trigger.  But I can't help wanting to keep it looking unblemished for now)

2.  How to dial in the ES2 (worst sounding pickup I have ever had - at the moment).  I've followed Taylor directions by backing off the pickups and slowing bringing them back - but that amplified squeal from the pick and fingers on the B and G are a nightmare to listen to.

Please don't think I am slagging my new guitar - I LOVE it!!!!  I just wanted to introduce myself and give you glimpse in to why I asked to join  ;D
No need to respond to those questions - I will search the forums as I am surely not the first to have these questions.

Here are a few pics of my guitar...because guitar pics are always fun!

Keep on pickin' and grinnin' - thanks again for letting me join!

Cheers,

jkstraw

wow!!! this makes me want to get a koa guitar! that looks incredible!

Taylor has clear pick guards that they sell, you can ask your dealer if they have them. I had custom Taylor's ship w/ them loose in the case.

If the dealer can't help, I'm sure Taylor customer service can - if that fails, let me know and I'll check my custom cases to see if it's still in there.

Welcome and wow!!! I can't stop looking at Koa now!!!

Hi Jkstraw,
Just wondering... which pickups you have had and liked?
