"The Artist"
« on: February 06, 2012, 07:17:48 PM »
I saw "The Artist" over the weekend, and I loved it. Its story bears more than a passing resemblence to "Singin' In The Rain" but it's more dramatic than comedic, and aside of the music soundtrack the film is truly silent. Also, the director made some nice, subtle bows to the era, including a 4:3 aspect ratio, a black-and-white presentation, a tiny bit of added speed (he shot it at 22 fps) and, if I heard correctly, monaural sound. It's probably not everyone's taste, but I think it's terrific.
