Proud Grandparent

Hello All,
Here is a video that one of the Main street merchants Of St. Charles, Mo paid to produce and put up.  They asked a member of the Lewis and Clark Fife and Drum Corps if the corps could supply one fifer and one drummer for the video.  That way they could practice social distancing by being 6 feet apart.  My daughter offered her 3 kids who are members and being from the same family didn't have to practice social distancing.  The historic buildings, empty streets, period correct dress and music make it very moving.

Our grandkids  are: Lily (left), Jaimie (right) and Wyatt on the drum. We are so proud of them.

That's really cool. Nicely done video and the kids did a great job. You SHOULD be proud.

Madx2,

You certainly have the right to be proud grandparents.

And I say that as a proud grandparent myself.

Keep in mind that many schools offer scholarships to play in their marching band, so keep a copy of this video handy to send along with future applications to the University of Missouri or Washington University or wherever.

Might have to let out the costumes though.  8)

Good idea.  Wyatt, the drummer, is in the high school marching band.  Their eldest sister "graduated out" of the corp last year as a fifer. (It is a youth corps and they have to leave at summer's end after their 18 birthday)   She played piccolo in the same marching band.

It takes a special young person to commit to the corp.  They do 3 day "encampments" where they sleep in canvas tents, eat campfire food, have several performances and don't look at their phones.  It is a much slower pace and not everyone can "cut it".
