The spring limited 310 baritone looks yummy. Hope to see one soon.

this year's spring limiteds just don't do anything for me this year. i'm sure others thought the same of last years offerings.

It is a easier decision for me this year. It will be a 814ce

Don'tcha think there will be something VERY special for the 40th Anniversary (yet to come)?

I do think that is the most interesting one..
I love the baritones, if somebody was thinking about one, this Limited seems a great price point for a solid US made one, certainly a lot less than what the Rosewood series was going for

a baritone 8 was offered in tasmanian blackwood

& a 416ceLTD ovangkol bari

the 320eSLTD has ES2 & the $ point is the most affordable, so far, for a new baritone offering 8)

I am thinking that Taylor feels it is to soon to bring out a real show stopper that might hurt the 814 enthusiasm. They will have a nice surprise for us in the Fall.

I agree with mgap. Taylor is hyping the new 800 series big time and keeping the mouth-watering competition to a minimum. I do applaud the 310 baritone. That's about the right price point for my baritone intrigue . . . if I can stop gathering ukuleles.
-
Yeah, they're not tripping my trigger either. Already went down the baritone road a couple times without success, so that won't do it for me. And as much as I try, I don't like the tone of Ovangkol. It's pretty, but I don't like the sound of it. That's okay, 'cuz this guy's git-fiddle fun budget is running dangerously low. It's going to take something very special to get me off my wallet this year...

Hi Guys
Your help and advice would be much appreciated. My local Taylor dealer has ordered a 456ce spring ltd for me to try, no obligation, as a relative beginner with far more enthusiasm than ability what should I expect. I love the fuller sound of a well played twelve string but I'm a little apprehensive about "biting off more than I can chew" and possibly struggling to get on with it. I'm assuming the shape and wood combination is well tried and tested and from all my research it appears that Taylor makes the easiest twelve string to play on the market. Thanks in advance. Bob.

Some of the best 12-strings I've played have been Taylors. But you should also try Breedlove 12's, as easy to play as Taylors, and their laminated mahogany models are a great value.
-
The Sitka spruce/ovangkol combination should provide great support for the 12 string sound. While traditional 12 strings have more often than not used maple or mahogany, some folks find them a bit too twangy. Rosewood-backed 12 strings can sometimes lose the fullness of range of those middle double-coursed strings due to its characteristic mid range scoop. The ovangkol (IMO) will deliver the happy medium for you. I hope you like it - should sound great!

some of the 400 LTDs are pretty ridiculous looking :o

i'll bet that one has the tone to match the looks too 8)

Thanks guys. I briefly tried a Takamine 12 string, months ago and it sounded like someone throwing nails into a tin. Probably my playing, if I'm honest :)

Wow! This thing sounds awesome! 320e Baritone....

I played one at the road show a couple of days ago. I love the sound, as did everyone there. The Tayloy guy played a pretty rock'n version of "Amazing Grace" on it. Then he did a couple of drop tunings with it. The lower it goes, the better it sounds.
