Title: I can't quite figure this one out..
Post by: American Red on November 25, 2012, 11:05:52 PM
I did my research.
I read all of the latest posts.
I played every Taylor acoustic I could get my hands on.
I even bought a $20.00 amp..

But this guitar on YouTube sounds better than mine does..

Is it because he has a better amp?
Take a look and see..

I bet I need a better amp..

Mine does seem to have better tone, but there is something special about his guitar.. Just sounds better than mine.

Maybe it's the T-5?   ;)

After seeing Doyle Dykes in concert I felt like throwing all my guitars away.  But wait, it must have been the T5.

Ahh... I think I figured it out..

I took a 30 year break with no Guitar.
For three weeks I have been practicing hard. (a couple of good hours a week).

He performs..

I bet he does it for fun, but when people provide him with a place to play and then give him a whole lot money, well, I bet that makes him even happier.
What a lucky guy.

I am going to have to practice three hours a week..

Yep, three hours ought to do it..
I will really try and step it up..

Now this next guy plays a beat up guitar..
I am surprised it can stay in tune.
If I was his father I would have taken his first Guitar away from him..
This probably is his first Guitar..
Fool, does not even know much about how to properly play a Guitar, he just abuses it..
Another Jimi Hendrix, thats all I got to say

Bet he never even wipes it down

I tried this song last night, but I fell off the bed...

Or if you tire easily, try this much shorter version

Oh, and look....
No Pick Guard....

it could be the amp ...
or, it could be the person behind the guitar (no amp)

a lil' un (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dBRluhR6v8U#t=64s)
a bit bigger (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n3xK0yyJy9I)
solid top (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IISUA-rbTd0)
adirondack/maple (http://vimeo.com/48348275)

i've met Doyle a few times -
he's definitely been blessed & he continues sharing with people well after he's done playing

make an effort to go see him some time when he's in your area

Do you suppose putting that first scratch in the guitar bothered him??  ;D

Fun to watch.   8)  At what point should one switch to bongos?   ;)

Although I have never had a conversation with Doyle, I did get to see him do a short set at Guitar town, his genuine likeable personality shines.  His guitar prowess is awesome.
