Title: Forum Name....
Post by: barefooter on December 09, 2011, 05:34:14 PM
I know we have many coming over from the other Forum.  I look forward to continuing reading their interesting and informative posts about their experiences and knowedge of guitars and the like.

I thought that it might be interesting to see if we have any members from the other Forum that have chosen a new identity here.

I was barefooter there and I will remain.  Oh, I got that identity from waterskiing barefooted.  What about you?

Looking forward to communicating with all.

I was "edward993" over there, but only because the handle "Edward" was already taken.  So I am back to me, here and on other forums.  :)

When I signed up at AGF in 2006 markallen was already taken so I used fallboard as I was working on piano at the time and that was my username on a piano forum. Aside from those two forums (haven't been back to the piano forum in years) I have been markallen on the three or four other forums I read so coming over here gave me a chance to get my identity back.

Cheers,
Mark (yes, my middle name is Allen)

I'm using the same name I did over at the other place.
How did I choose it?
Well, in July my wife gave birth to our son, Luke.

Keeping E8N as I am pretty much everywhere.  I've been asked several times about it.  I run a forum on Japanese Aircraft of WWII and the codename for an E8N seaplane was "Dave".  So outside of my website, that is how I'm known and will continue to be.

Scriptor there, Scriptor here ... I got this nickname many years ago when I was a Unix technical adviser, admin and heavily involved in writing scripts for Unix OS utilities, installs etc. for medical software ... I also am a student of the scriptures and so it kind of had a double fit ...

Steely Glen there and Steely Glen here.  "Steely" is the call sign I was given when I worked in the AF fighter jet world, mainly because I listened to Steely Dan in my office a lot and the pilots in the unit just didn't get their music.

I am and have been flaggerphil on every forum I've ever been on.  It's a nickname that was bestowed on me years and years ago in racing and was also the name of a cartoon I did for some motorsports magazines in the '90s and early 2000s.

Well, contrary to popular belief, my name is not Bo.  It came about when a certain movie came out, and the guy called himself B-rad.  My name is Boone, which is were I get bo-one.  The 142 is related to my number when I raced motorcycles.

Just out of curiosity, what type of motorcycle racing did you do?

Seen many a WERA race at Summit Point.  Very cool.  Back in the day (WAAAAAY back in the day) I raced an RD400.  Now I just ride street bikes.

I've never raced (well, legally  :-X ) but I do ride street bikes as well.
First bike was an '84 VT700C.
Then got an '07 Bonneville T100.
Picked up a Honda Helix for my wife.
Pulled a '74 CB550K out of some guy's garage and got 'er running after a 20 year sit.

Now I have a 5 month old boy and I have probably logged 200 miles since July, but he's worth it!   :D

I kept the John 429 from the other forum. One of my other interests is classic Mustangs. I have one with a 429 engine and I'm John, hence, "John 429"!

LOL! I've never ridden the type of bikes you ride, but my bike is pretty fun to ride. I like to think of it as a tricycle on steroids. :D Kids and teens LOVE it. Here's a YouTube video of a similar one. http://www.youtube.com/user/WizWheelzTerraTrike#p/u/39/ee2CYtyF214

Having recently acquired a lovely Taylor GA-Ke I'm looking forward to picking-up lots of tips on this new forum from all you Taylor experts  :)

at first, i thought it might have been a biblical reference, so i looked it up (good verse, btw)

i was just wondering if the year model is a 69-70, 71-73
with the '9 from the factory, or if it was installed later -
i'm a mustang 'nut' too & used to wrench at a Ford place

either way, cool name, nice car & i like your guitars :)

Hello all

I guess this is a good place to start...

I used the same name on the "other" forum, as here: chubakabra. Yes, I know that it should be spelled "chupacabra" ... I thank the Norwegian sub texts of an X-files epsiode back in 1998 for that :) But I have been using it online since then, so I'm sticking with it :)

I'm mostly a lurker, but I do post from time to time ... However, less than 200 post over 5 years on the AGF is not much. I guess some of you will get more post than that here within the end of the year :D

Big thanks to jjrpilot for creating this forum. Hopefully it will grow fast, and provide lots of good information for years to come.

I have been getting revster or something like it for over 34 yrs due to what I do for a living so I just stuck with it, BTW Cindy those of us who ride motocycles ( 1100 Vstar yamaha) could easily put a motor on your trike and make it go real fast.

I love the 1100cc engines on the Yamaha and Honda V-twins.  Seems to me like the perfect balance of power, fuel economy, weight and physical size.
Nowadays the trend is toward 1600cc-1800cc plus, and some even look at 1300cc bikes as small.   ::)
At some point you're just adding cc's to make up for the increased weight of the engine/frame.
I absolutely love my little 550cc Honda, some say it's anemic, but it can really scoot, it's very nimble, and if you get the rev's up there is no problem spooling up to 90mph in a zip.   8)
Anyways, hello and welcome, revster!
:D

I miss it alot sometimes, but guitars are alot safer ;D  I raced a Yamaha R6 and R1, but ended up selling the R1 and totaling the R6.  The last wreck I had was at JenningsGP, which is about 10 miles south of Valdosta, GA.  Went down in turn 11 at about 120mph, don't remeber much after that, until my pregant wife saw me and started crying.  That was the end of racing.  I have two sons now, so I'm looking forward to getting back into it, and hopefully they will too.
