Title: Taylor 114ce case suggestions
Post by: silar on August 23, 2014, 09:04:27 AM
I know this has been talked about before, but I just bought a 114ce that comes with a gigbag.  I want a case, but can't (er.. I mean won't) spend $XXX on a Taylor case.  If I could find a cheaper used Taylor GA case, then I'd be up for that, but it kills me knowing that their guitar cases are so much more expensive than others.

Please.. This isn't a Case VS Gigbag discussion.  I'd like to get input from people that have actually used other cases on their x14 guitars.

I've seen some posts for alternatives, but nothing that really fits too well.  The Gator dread case comes close but leaves a little wiggle room.

Anyone try a Silver Creek, SKB, etc.. case with their x14 series and found one that fit decent?

I know I should get the Taylor case for an exact snug fit, but until I find one cheaper, I'm going for alternatives.

Hi Silar-

I have PM'd you with a solution. I have a used Cedar Creek case that was custom built to fit a Taylor GA. I no longer have any use for it, and it will not cost you anywhere near what a Taylor case costs. Please PM me if you're interested.

Picked this up from Austin Bazaar - Yamaha HC-AG1 Hardshell Vinyl Guitar Case - last January for half a C-Note. Fits my 114 nicely with just a little room in the bouts that you can fill with your strap or small towel to keep from moving.

For my 114ce I found a "Freedom" brand case at a pawn shop for $65. It fit like a glove and am VERY happy with it's quality. ;)
