Bridge Pins for Taylor 210ce-FLTD
« on: January 14, 2016, 03:57:11 AM »
Hello everyone,

I bought a Taylor 210ce-FLTD in 2014 and would like to change the plastic bridge pins to ebony pins (if possible), because I broke an original one.

I found a set of Taylors ebony bridge pins (https://www.taylorguitars.com/taylorware/saddles-bridge-pins/bridge-pins) here in Germany. Because I read, that they fit a lot of people's 214 etc. too, I bought them, despite the fact, that the seller wrote, that they are for the 300 series and up only. Unfortunately they are too small for my 210ce-FLTD indeed.

Any suggestions ? Thanks in advance.

Hi. I'm also looking for pins for my Mini, but because I'm in Belgium I can't order directly from Taylor. Were you able to order from Taylor to Germany or did you get them somewhere else?

I'm sure you know, but there are loads of places to get 'generic' bridge pins - just google 'Ebony Bridge Pins' and you'll find many sites who will ship free in Europe.  To get the right size just measure the diameter directly below the head of your old pins.  This site tells you exactly how to find the right size...

or their mobile site:

Thanks for your reply George !

I am also a happy GS-Mini-Rosewood-owner and would change it's pins too, as soon as I find the right ones.

I got the Taylor pins from a local german music store (http://www.session.de/TAYLOR-Bridge-Pins-Classic-Ebony.html?refKey=f2mNbGrKz).

I will try to measure the old size with a caliper gauge, but even if I am able to measure the exact diameter in mm-fractions, the problem is, that most times the sellers don't state the size-classification given in your first link  :(

Has anyone else made some experiences with bridge pins on the 200 series or GS Minis ?

I just tried that with my GS Mini. The bridge holes seem to be the same as the 210's. The pins are exactly(!) the hole's size at maximum, so that they would fall out if I would turn the guitar with just the pins inserted. Together with the strings, the plus on diameter could be enough to keep them from falling out, be they are anything but tight  :-\

In my opinion they are maybe 0,1mm-0,3mm (0.004"-0.012") too small or my expectation is just wrong !?

Hello,

unfortunately I am still searching for bridge pins, that fit my 210ce (2014). The Taylor support wrote:

Thank you for contacting us with this query.

The ebony ones will fit your guitar, you just have to push a bit further.

If you need further information, let me know.

The problem is, that I don't need to push, because the pins are just 'falling' into the holes. The thickness of the low strings could be enough to hold them in place, but the high e- and b-string for example are too thin. The pins would fall out if I turn the guitar around.

Am I the only one with this issue ?  ??? :-[

Sorry, can't help with your 210 pins, but you can use the ones you already bought on your Mini.  I ordered the same ones for my Mini, also from Session, and they're a perfect fit and make the bridge area look so much better. I'm told it will also increase the sustain of your Mini, but I didn't notice any difference when I changed mine.

Anyway, good luck with your hunt for the right pins for your 210...
