Incoming NGD!! 2014 512ce FLTD 12-fret

I’ve been looking for a 12-fret again, after selling my 512e and 412ce 12-frets a while back. Ended up finding a 2014 512ce 12-fret FLTD - spruce top with blackwood back and sides. The couple demos I’ve heard sound really good, but always a little nervous buying without trying it out (hasn’t stopped me before though ;-) )

Has anyone played one? Thoughts on the tone?

Well it’s here!

Needs some new strings before I can judge the tone, and one of the tuners has a bit too much play in it and will likely get replaced here pretty soon, but overall I’m excited. It’s nice to have a 12-fret again!!

Congrats! Looks like a nice guitar! I have a 322 that has Blackwood back and sides topped with mahogany. Almost, but not quite, too mellow for me as I'm not that big on mahogany tops, but your's sounds really intriguing with a spruce top. Best of luck with it!

PS -  I replaced my tuners with a set of Shallers Grandtunes with a copper finish that was very close to the originals and the 18:1 ratio is great. Might be hard to find a single for purchase, but I was very happy with the French eBay vendor named "fretdreamer"I got my set from.

Looking good Geosh.  That is a guitar that is right up my alley.  I love the 500 series Taylors, but I have never tried a 512 12th fret.  Maybe someday, soon.

This is my second 512 12-fret and they have been some of my favorite Taylors to date. My old one has a cedar top which was amazing for fingerpicking. This one can take a little more aggressive playing but still has a nice focused tone to it. Not quite as mellow as mahogany, but not as bright and chimney as rosewood.
