Hello from Scotland !!
« on: January 27, 2012, 02:48:30 AM »
Hi,

Recently joined this forum, so thought i'd introduce myself. The names Adrian (59) and I live around 15 miles from Edinburgh.

I'm a late starter with guitar and attend an evening class at the local High School for instruction. My first guitar was a Yamaha F310 which, although i'm a big guy, always seemed a bit bulky for me. Since selling that I now have a Taylor Big Baby 2003 vintage and a new GS Mini which will be going in the campervan with us once the weather improves !!  So it looks like i've the Taylor bug........ ;)

Cheers,
Adrian

Hi Adrian, welcome, from a distant Northumberland. Good to have another member from the UK (currently  :) ) (ooops, hope that doesn't break the politics rule :-X).

I'm also a late starter, took it up 3 years ago at the ripe age of 53, now can't understand why I didn't do it years ago.

I'm not particulary musical and don't think I will ever be much good, but I have great fun and get a lot of pleasure from trying; it has sort of taken over my life - in a good way  :D.

Hi Adrian from the even more distant UK east coast in Hull.  Scotland's definitely THE place to play golf and Edinburgh is in my all time top 6 cities of the world (along with San Francisco, Sydney, New York, Vancouver and Cape Town).  I'll be visiting again in May and then off up to the Highlands before the midges get biting!!  Speaking as a medical man I'm afraid that once you have the Taylor bug it's incurable....are there any good Taylor dealers in Edinburgh I can visit for a fix whilst whilst I'm there (I've never looked before)?!?

Thanks for the greetings guys !

I'm not too sure if i'm musical or not Eddie. I might be kidding myself, but I try.....  Yes Scotland is beautiful but very cold this time of year. We live in Dunfermline on the North side of the River Forth. Phil, you ask about Taylor dealers in Edinburgh. Well, go along to Guitar Guitar in Corstorphine (near the the Zoo). They have a full range of Taylors' It's a big shop and according to their ads over 1000 guitars in stock. Happy Days !!!!

Hi there, Adrian! Very cool that you are from Scotland and fun that you are getting into guitar at this time in your life. It is such a fun hobby and can be theraputic in so many ways. Also good to hear you have a guitar shop available with such a large selection. It's always fun go to the guitar store to check out their wares :) Welcome!

Hi Adrian and welcome! :) Scotland seems like a beautiful place although I've never been there. Like sachi said, it's a place I wouldn't mind visiting either!

Adrian, I can finally form an F chord, although I'm dreadfully slow and my bony index finger doesn't help; but it does come with practice.

The tutor at the guitar class I go to has a preference for Dylan songs, we are now on the second one that uses the Bb chord; What a bloody nightmare  :o

Still, if it was easy, it wouldn't be worth doing  :)
