WTB Taylor 516e 2013 Fall LTD
« on: January 12, 2019, 03:30:59 PM »
I am looking for one of these 516e LTDs from 2013 for sale but they seem pretty rare. Anyone have a line on where to find one of these?

Thanks,

Steve

Wish I did - I used to own the GA version of that 2013 FLTD, and it was a sweet guitar - as if it was made by a boutique luthier. Good luck with your search!
My Taylor Grand Auditoriums:

1997 Cujo14 - old growth cedar/black walnut
2014 K24e - master grade koa
2018 Custom GA - bear claw sitka spruce/mahogany
2019 614 - torrified sitka spruce/flamed maple
2020 714 - lutz spruce/rosewood

How come you got rid of it? I've been thinking about a 514 version instead but I think I want the extra bass and volume that the 516 model would have.  How was the volume and bass on yours?

I sold it to build a custom Taylor. However, the bass and volume were just fine. The guitar was also quite balanced and the tone was a beautifully refined version of the best that a spruce/mahogany guitar can offer.

Great guitar & that Flamed Mahogany comes from one of those "famous log" finds. I like reading about The Tree, or The Lucky Strike tree, etc.. There was a good story in the "ASIA" Guitar Maker Magazine about this log. This guitar is really responsive to how much body contact you have when you play it. I don't think I have ever played a guitar that can have such tone variability based on how hard it rests on my gut.

Manzguitar, is there a link to that article? I'd love to read that story!
