Just joined up. I've been playing for maybe 20 years off and on, all jazz. Mostly in a local rehearsal big band rhythm section. Lots of chart (sight) reading, mostly contemporary stuff, and lots and lots of non-paying gigs. Currently I'm not playing anywhere except my own totally inadequate practice routine (if you can call it that). Time to get back to music and regain some chops.
My only (and present) Taylor, ever, is a T5, but now I'm interested in going in a more acoustic direction, and the GC and X12 series are grabbing my attention big time. It'll definitely be a Taylor. I am used to playing through amps, almost always using a pick except if comping for a bossa or latin thing. So, whatever I buy will be a "ce" version. Right now I can't find a 12-series in any of the nearby stores to try out, which is frustrating. I did play a 614ce (spruce/maple) and a 514ce with a cedar top and they both sounded exceptionally good to me, using my normal pick/attack, which is pretty light. However I didn't get a chance to plug them in and see how they would sound through an amp. I'll be doing that though while I continue to look for a grand concert ce.
My main axe is/has been an Ibanez George Benson semi hollow electric, and I also have a pretty sweet 1975 Guild Manhattan.
Looking forward to getting a lot of Taylor education here!
