New from the Netherlands
« on: April 15, 2018, 07:22:11 AM »
I just bought a 224CE-Koa Deluxe (see picture) and I’m very happy with it. I’ve been playing the guitar for about 40 years. Any tips for fingerpicking sheetmusic (standard tuning) are more than welcome   :)

Sorry, I missed your post. I didn’t bought it from Souman, but I traded it at Souman last month, just to buy a 814ce DLX V-class.

I’d love to try a 512 someday by the way, haven’t seen one anywhere.

Here's the skinny of finger picking...... Play the least amount of strings you have per cord form! Really important, you can drop the root note or put it in a different part of the cord i.e. inversions. Practice, practice, practice! And Finally all this stuff on certain fingering patterns........ ignore......... learn the melody either by singing, whistling or humming it! Then use the cord forms to strike the sound that represents the lyrics and use feeling in playing those cordings. Take off notes in the form or add one or two if possible to get the sound you want for the song. Here is an attached Key Charts, that is invaluable for cords used in the keys. So you can figure out what that missing Cord is! Above all have a good time, music feeds the soul and gives back as much as you put into it.

I am working through Contemporary Travis Picking and then The Art of Solo Fingerpicking by Mark Hanson.

The Art of Ragtime Guitar also looks (and sounds) great.

New here myself!  I love fingerpicking and look forward to interacting in the threads.  It must be beautiful this time of year in The Netherlands.  I'm in SE Asia and this is the scorching time of year.
