I've got three Taylors (one is a GS Mini on permenant loan to a friend), a Martin, and an Alvarez-Yairi.

None of them get played too much these days.

If I were to get another (which I probably won't do), it would probably be a Mahogany/Adi short-scale Taylor dread...

I have become quite smitten with the 700 series 12 fret Nylon they were showing at NAMM last month.  Other than that, I'm more than set on steel string acoustics. In fact, I'm kicking around the idea of culling the herd a bit...

That was the sexiest guitar in the booth...

Well now that I finally got my 12 string it is time to start thinking of another guitar.  I think I'll go with either an 8 string baritone or a Sitka/Madagascar GS (standard 6 string).

I just don't play much these days...

Sometimes one just needs a break - I do that with golf, some years I play several times a week and some years I'm good if I just play several times.

You'll get your mojo back and then have fun working on re-developing those callouses we all wear proudly.

Played a GC8 and 814ce at Guitar Center, and preferred the 814ce so I'll probably forgo the short scale.

Well, this break's lasted the better part of seven years, so I don't know that it's comin' back.

Quite honestly, my interests have moved into other pursuits. I still like having the guitars around, in case I want to play, but I just haven't gotten back there...

It will, I took a five year hiatus from golf and just got bit by the bug again last year - can't wait for spring this year to play more.

I have the following sugar plums dancing in my head, in no particular order:

The maple-bodied Taylor 514ce or 512ce, correction, make that 614ce or 612ce, but maybe with an Engelmann top (unless that's standard?).

A D'Angelico reissue, blonde (for jazz, natch).

A Gibson ES series....not sure which one......blonde.

An Eastman AC608CE GC, or AC722CE GA.

Another Taylor CE cutaway with sinker redwood.

"Oh Lordy, got to stop thinkin' 'bout that!"

blonde maple 612ce or 614ce ... yep, i can relate to that ;)

this one has since gone on a new home, but she shore was purrrty ;D

engelmann top ... i hear ya :)

redwood CE ... not sinker, but old-growth is nice too :D

my next one was totally & completely unexpected - i was thinking & still am, a 416ce or 316ce

a 'time capsule' 614ce in 'cobalt electron' transparent blue finish (wide-grain sitka top)

tight, highly flamed maple ... better pics later -  the back is 'holographic' (mesmerizing) ;)

it's not about what you play,
it's all about why you play ...

michaelw, please, must you keep showing me that blue 614ce?  :)

I've never really been in the market for a 600 series Taylor, but this blue one really gets my attention ... maybe when I start playing out more and need a stage guitar ... hmmmm ... pass the anti-GAS pills please!

To the OP's question, the next acoustic I'm thinking of is a Cocobolo GA shape/size with Englemann (or maybe Sitka) top ... sorry to say that barring some unexpected financial miracle, this is more like a long-term wish ... ever since I got acquainted with Taylor's I seem to always have some next guitar bouncing around in my head ...
