Just got off the phone. Ordered a Taylor DN-7e tobacco burst!  Saw it in "Wood and Steel". Had to have it! ;)

Nice!

For reference so everyone else can be jealous too: http://www.taylorguitars.com/guitars/acoustic/dn7

Ok, I went to GC on Saturday.  My next guitar will be a Martin 000-18 standard.  I do love it.  Then after that, Taylor 414ce.  That's the plan.     :)

Most likely I'll save my shekels and hope Taylor has another "Family & Friends Sale" this December. You never know what you'll find (demonstrators, prototypes, unusual guitars) but it's always real fun shopping.

(Like I need another guitar...)

I will make the "next guitar" decision this weekend.

I have a Santa Cruz OM being shipped on approval from an out of town dealer. When I receive it I will A/B/C it against a 15 year old Martin OOO-28 VR and a new OOO-28EC that I have located in local shops. I am expecting the SC tone, fit and finish to be superior and anticipate spending an interesting weekend discovering whether my expectations are correct and, if so, how many dollars "superior" the SC is.

The used Martin is half the cost of the SC so there are a lot of intangibles to figure out. What fun!

GC4; near the end of the year if all goes well.  Have yet to play one (nobody local stocks one) but I should be heading to Madison Music (never been but good rep) pretty soon and I am aiming to try their 512 so I can get a feel for the body size and shorter scale even if the tone will be different.  If I have a good experience I'll try and have them order me a GC4 when the time comes.

well, i'm waiting to pick out woods for my BTO GC.  so excited! it'll be macassar ebony b/s with a sinker redwood top. no cutaway but ES.

on the non-Taylor front, i just received a new tele from Ron Kirn, the great custom builder in FL. he used 180 year old re-claimed pine from an Otis Elevator factory. very cool, tons of character.

Sheesh...why do you people ask questions like these?!?!   ;)

Well I was thinking of a BTO years down the road simply b/c Taylor had shut down the R. Taylor line.  But then today Brian mentioned that they have plans for the R. Taylor line in the future.   ;D

I'm dreaming of a Sinker redwood top with EIR b/s.

Style 1 or Style 2 body style (can't make up my mind)
1 11/16 nut width
green abalone rosette
some type of dark green binding
ES system
no fret markers except on the 12th fret.   ;D

I'm thinking that the dark green binding/abalone would look amazing against that dark sinker redwood  8)

ok I'm done.

That sounds familiar!  My first RT is a Style 2, with sinker top and EIR back and sides.  For me, though, I went with bloodwood binding, and a rosette that features both bloodwood and abalone.

Instead of the ES, I elected to have a third party system installed.  No real reason, except that I figured if I was gonna have an instrument made of that great wood, I didn't wanna have holes poked in it for the ES controls.  Probably silly, but... I guess that's how I roll.  :-)

I am taking a "hands on" class next month with Charles Fox building an electric guitar.  I have already picked out all the woods and hardware.  If it comes out as well as the OM I built in his acoustic class last year I will be ecstatic.

A beautiful guitar! I don't blame you for not wanting holes punched into it.
