Taylor 314 neck made in Mexico ?
« on: January 25, 2018, 05:24:59 PM »
Hi,

I just happened to notice the 'Made in Mexico' label on the inside of my 314 where the neck meets the body (cfr. picture)
The other label on the back with the serial number (starts with '1') states it's made in the USA.
Is the neck made in Mexico and the rest of the guitar in the USA ?
Is this normal ?

This is largely speculation on my part because I don't know where the necks are made; but it's possible the necks for some models are made in Mexico, but final assembly is in the U.S.  Technically, if something is assembled here, even with components that are made abroad, it can be labeled "Made in the U.S.A."

That neckblock label covers the neck attachment bolts. It is removed when a neck reset is done. It could be the guitar had a neck reset and the tech put on a label intended for a 100 or 200 series guitar. Or even on original assembly the wrong label could have been used, though it seems unlikely.

I do not think Taylor attaches one label to show where the neck was made and another to show where the guitar was made.

This might be it ! I will ask my guitar tech about it.
