Medium top/Heavy bottom strings
« on: September 14, 2017, 11:16:58 PM »
I really like the sound and feel of D'Addario's 12-string custom set EJ37.  They do exhibit lots of pull, no doubt.

I have a '97 355 12-string I'd like to use them on. I keep that guitar tuned down two FULL steps.

Oh it's low, man.

Do you think strings that heavy, tuned down that low, would be ok on a 355?  Was wondering if anyone else has also used this custom set.

Those are pretty heavy strings, but what your hears tell you is what you should do.
I personally prefer the 12 - 47.
the 54s you want will give a very nice thump.

You are right, I have tried those as well.

But with it tuned down so super-low, let's see what happens.  I cannot imagine any 12-string, really, that could use this heavy top/medium bottom custom set even tuned down one step from standard.
