Ok. Non-Taylor case for a Taylor.

Hi,

I prefer TKL acoustic cases for whatever reason.  The kind of higher-end side cases that have this tougher (I think) tolex covering.  I've bought several of them over the years, usually the 8000+ series cases.  They are right at the price point before, in my estimation, you get into those "next level" cases where you'd be using those for guitars costing five, six large and up.

So what general size case or descriptor best fits Grand Auditorium size Taylors?  My guess was:  small jumbo?

I did find that the Ess & Ess cases Guild used for their vintage 12 strings (not the XL size guitar) fits the Taylor Grand Auditorium like a glove.  Or at least the late '60s or early '70s case I have.

I also wondered, did Taylor originate the "Grand Auditorium" size?  It seems between all the standard size cases I've looked at.  Small jumbo looks closest.

Not interested in the Taylor cases.

Thanks!

Having purchased 3rd party cases in the past, I can tell you what the case manufacturer told me when I contacted them regarding the right size case.

They wanted the following measurements:

Body Length
Body Height
Lower Bout Width
Middle Bout Width
Upper Bout Width
Overall Length

I sent them the requested info, they told me which model to buy. YMMV.
I play badly, but I make up for it by being slow.
