New to Guitars
« on: April 30, 2017, 09:01:43 PM »
Hi everyone from Connecticut, I've only just started playing guitar about ten days ago.  Bought a new Taylor 214ce as well.  For now, just learning chords and other basics.  Trying to practice every day.  So far its been great fun.

Welcome to the forum Stinch.  Nice new guitar you have there.  I think you will like it here.

Welcome, Stinch! The 214ce was my first acoustic, and a really great guitar. Even though I have a few other guitars, I pick it up several days a week and am amazed at how good that guitar is at that price point.

Be patient, play at least 10 minutes a day, and be okay with where you are at. Stay with it-- improvements take time but they do come in stages.

Enjoy the forum. This is a very supportive and informative place.

Hi Rich Stinch, welcome to the wonderful world of making music with a guitar, and to the UTGF. Your 214ce is EVER so much better than my first guitar, and will make your learning a relative breeze. (I remember my fingers literally bleeding a little on my first fretboard at age 13 - the thing required the grip of a strong wood clamp to fret, and I loved every minute of it!) You're among friends here, the kind that certainly doesn't mind questions from someone just starting out, so don't be shy to ask for the wisdom or advice of others here. Good luck!

Hello and welcome, Rich. You chose an excellent guitar on which to learn and will continue to serve you well long after you're past the learning stages. Great to have you here. Please pull up a chair and hang out. :)
