NGD- GS Mini- some pics
« on: January 11, 2012, 08:21:13 PM »
Just got a new (used) GS Mini- and am really enjoying it!  When I can get some more money together, I want to get a ES Go and a V-cable to go with it.  I'll also take some pics when I have a chance.

Two questions:
Can anyone explain the serial number on these?  I understood the old Taylor nomenclature, but the serial number on the Mini just looks like a bunch of random numbers.
Also, just curious- after playing one of these for a while, and then going back to your normal guitar (in my case a Taylor 110e or a Martin D15s), does the old dread seem like, really huge?  Just wondering.

Here's an explanation of the serial numbers:  http://www.taylorguitars.com/guitars/reference/dating.html

As for your dread seeming huge after playing a mini, count on it.  But the size difference isn't just in the body size -- it's in the width of the fretboard.  The mini's is particularly narrow.

I notice the difference in body size between my GA 12-string and RT2 (basically a GC body) when I go back and forth.  It's amazing how that 1/16 inch difference in fret board width can make such a difference to your hands too.

Really nice grain on your Mini!

There is some bearclaw on the top- which I know some people don't like, but I kind of do.

This little guitar sure is fun to play!
