No more visiting that other forum. I cannot believe our section moved just shoved down there.
Anyhow, I am a Taylor fan, as well as a guitar fan. I'll be frequenting here from now on.

The very 1st Taylor that I ever saw (not played) but saw...was a gorgeous 610ce...maple cutaway...I believe...I drooled over it...but I was in college...and was dirt poor.

I'm a Rosewood / Walnut kind of guy tonewise, but Maple is sure one of the best lookers to me ... very nice guitar there gary ...

speaking of sub-types, I think it would be a terrible idea to have sub types by series. That will just disburse everyone...and us maple lovers will be in a corner talking quietly amongst ourselves

I had read so many post of people who didn't like maple that I was amazed when I finally had the chance to play a 614ce for the first time.  I really like it, and I am very glad that I was able to get one.  I play plugged in the majority of the time anyway, so its like a bonus as well.

Although speaking strictly acoustic I prefer Rosewood or Walnut, if I were ever to get in a position financially to do so, I'd seriously consider acquiring a maple.  For playing plugged in and for band settings, I consider Maple a top choice.  And the beauty of the wood is hard to beat.
