Hmm...you will likely lose some of the dynamics...but if it ain't comfy to play, then the decision is based on the tradeoff.  Before you move from the standard light gauge string, have you confirmed the setup?  In all due respect, if you have been playing any length of time and your fingers and hands are "in shape", the 12/53 should be a cakewalk(?); it sounds like you might need a good tech to check out the instrument to make sure that all the stars are aligned...

Please forgive my presumptuousness, you may well be far more informed than I am assuming, but the strings you are referencing should not be an issue on your 614.

extra lights .010-.047s, are basically the
lower octaves from a light gauge 12 string set

16002 Extra Light  .010 .014 .023 .030 .039 .047
16152 12-St Light  .010 .014 .023 .030 .039 .047
                            .010 .014 .009 .012 .018 .027

most of the recent grand auditoriums (614ce, etc)
came shipped from the factory with HD lights,
that have a medium gauge B & e & slightly lighter G,
with the same E, A & D as their light gauge set

16182 HD Light       .013 .017 .025 .032 .042 .053
16102 Medium         .013 .017 .026 .035 .045 .056
16052 Light            .012 .016 .024 .032 .042 .053

perhaps custom lights might be a good compromise,
at least for the time being, as they basically
split the difference between extra & light gauge

16027 Custom Light .011 .015 .022 .032 .042 .052

i used extra lights when i first started  out &
to my ear, on different Taylor grand auditoriums,
i felt that all i heard were the strings & that the
wood combination made very little difference in tone -
fast forward to the present & i've settled in with
a medium light, bluegrass set (daddario EXP19s),
which elixir calls light (G, B, e) mediums (E, A, D)

16077 Light-Medium .012 .016 .024 .035 .045 .056

if the treble strings are a bit rough on the fingers,
having a guitar check the action at the nut & perhaps
trying a set of custom light gauge strings may help
it's not about what you play,
it's all about why you play ...
