extra lights .010-.047s, are basically the

most of the recent grand auditoriums (614ce, etc)
came shipped from the factory with HD lights,
that have a medium gauge B & e & slightly lighter G,
with the same E, A & D as their light gauge set

perhaps custom lights might be a good compromise,
at least for the time being, as they basically
split the difference between extra & light gauge

i used extra lights when i first started out &
to my ear, on different Taylor grand auditoriums,
i felt that all i heard were the strings & that the
wood combination made very little difference in tone -
fast forward to the present & i've settled in with
a medium light, bluegrass set (daddario EXP19s),
which elixir calls light (G, B, e) mediums (E, A, D)

if the treble strings are a bit rough on the fingers,
having a guitar check the action at the nut & perhaps
trying a set of custom light gauge strings may help
