B String tuner problem
« on: January 24, 2017, 02:19:37 PM »
I have a Taylor 314ce, changed the strings last week and now the B string seems to go flat about 1/2 step every time I bend the B string.   The nut is fine, no binding.   The only thing I can think is the tuner post is slipping somehow.   Any ideas?

Sounds like the B string didn't get "set" correctly in the hole/pin.
I'd look in there with a mirror and see what it looks like.
You can also loosen the string and give it a good pull to see if it sets then tune back up.
If the string is set correctly, it should stay in tune unless your new string was a lemon...which is doubtful, but could happen.

There should be a way to slightly tighten the tuner with a screwdriver. Look on the side of the tuning knob for a screw head and tighten ever so minimally.

second the advice to make sure the string is correctly seated below the bridge.

in a different thread, I complained about what I thought was loose bridge pins.  I replaced them with a custom set and have been happy ever since.

Pulled the bridge pin, tweaked the ball end a bit and reseated...

Problem solved...

Thanks,
