New variations in the 600 series
« on: January 10, 2012, 11:58:59 AM »

Taylor's Facebook page describes these as: "The 600 series. Big Leaf Maple back/sides, Sitka top. Check out the new color, Koi Blue and the tobacco sunburst 614ce-N."

Whoa, that blue guitar certainly takes me back! Blue acoustic/electrics were all the rage back in the late 90s -- looks like Taylor's anticipating a comeback!

Wow, the 614ce-N looks just like a 614ce.

Nice job, Taylor!

That blue is just lovely!

(But I still think the prettiest Taylor top is a plain cedar.)

thanks for sharing the pic & info, james :)

looks like Taylor has integrated the NS series into the AE steel strings
with a 'N' designation so it will be a 614ce-N, rather than a NS64ce

the koi blue looks more reminiscent in shade (to me) to the 'original' blue stain, also used on the GSLJ

I think this is a good move.  It just makes life simpler figuring our shape and wood combos.

I'm thinking a Maple might be worth a try...

didn't one of the Breedloves have something to do with that first colored Taylor(and wasn't it blue?)?

I didn't see the picture and info with the OP-did it leave?
Oops, never mind, I'm at work and the computers here will not open Facebook-thats probably why the red X is showing.

+1 :D
imho, it's good that most guitars don't have a finish designation,
other than the 'G' (for gloss top) on the current 200 series,
otherwise it might have potentially gotten confusing - 614ce-N(atural) ???

i also noticed that the 614ce-N has the 600 series pearl leaf fretmarkers  8)

hi daryl,
yep, Larry Breedlove did the work on a blue maple dreadnought with 'flame' rosette in 84 -
color finishes were then available on the original Artist Series in 85 & were offered thru 88 :)

most recently, in terms of finishes on the acoustic & electric guitars, the greatest # of variations are blue ...
me likee ;D

hey B :)
new 600 series inlays ???
zooms in to get a closer look ...

whoa :o
the leaves ('wings') are wider & look, to me, like
a blend of some of the Artist/800 series inlays
