New Taylor 414 CE owner in Roswell GA
« on: August 15, 2016, 03:51:44 PM »
Recently purchased a Taylor 414CE, traded in an Alvarez acoustic/electric.  My electric guitars include a Gibson ES335 and Fender Telecaster that I use for regular gigs with trios on up to 8 piece with horns.   However, I have recently picked up quite a few gigs where I am playing with a baby grand or grand piano, and I find that an acoustic guitar is better suited with the type of music and sound we are playing.  I use a Fishman Loud Box Mini for the guitar and vocals and wasn't getting the sound I wanted out of the Alvarez, so my quest to find the right sound (within my budget) started.  I tried quiet a few guitars including Martins, Taylors and other brands before finding this 414CE.  I found the amplified sound through the Fishman to be very natural which was exactly what I was looking for.      I am experimenting with strings at this point so see what has the best sound and feel.  I replaced the Elixirs that came with the guitar with Martin 4100s.  I also have a set of D'Addario EJ16s ready to go on after a couple more weeks to compare.  Looking forward to all of the good information on this site.
