2012 NAMM?
« on: January 06, 2012, 08:09:23 AM »
Is anyone here planning on going to this year's NAMM show? (I am not.) But if you are, please post here. I know Taylor's PR department will do an excellent job explaining what's new for 2012, but it's always helpful to hear from folks who actually attended the show. Thanks!

I'll be there for the whole show. Most of the time working the BES Audio booth (Hall E, Booth 1644). Stop by and say "Hi".

Cheers,
Mark

NO is the short answer.  I can only state that I wished I was close enough to enjoy something like this.

I plan to go one day this time.. Likely Friday..
The Taylor room is usually one of the BEST parts of the show too..
They setup a whole environment of their own..

NAMM is good for gawking, seeing toys, and meeting up with great folks from different companies..
And its always fun to see some rockers walking around next to you casually..
But for playing and enjoying acoustics... Not the ideal choice.. The noise level and crowding of the whole show is crazy....

Would definitely like to go one year. Maybe combine it with a trip to El Cajon to visit the Taylor factory and get a BTO built.

Enjoy!   Bill

Last couple years, I've happened to have a business meeting in LA at the same time as NAMM, so the timing worked out.  Good friends in the right places make going a possibility.  I'll be there again this year...

I'll be there reporting for http://mikesgig.com. I always stop at Taylor and have personally thanked Bob for building my K22. I have posted many video reports of performances and new product including this DD http://youtu.be/njMwYh0s9x0 from 2008.

Any suggestions for coverage?

Thanks,
Mike

As usual I'll be there for the first three days and will be posting pictures and info on our Facebook page. Both Taylor and Martin have some amazing new products to show off this year so it should be an exciting show.

Thank you Ted! Being the "Eyes" via your photos for folks like me who would love to go to something like this will be greatly appreciated :)

Can you attend the NAMM if you are not a dealer or otherwise involved in the music industry?

Officially, no. Can you imagine if they'd open to doors to the general public?

Theoretically, no - only dealers and their employees -- but we see a lot of other folks that seem to get passes every NAMM we attend.  It's interesting but very chaotic and very hard to hear anything because they don't segregate the acoustic instruments from electrics, percussion, etc.  -- which I have never understood!  Taylor, though, is on the second level and in a place where it's much easier to navigate - and listen! :)

A good friend who spends much more than me on guitars attends every year as a guest of a local music store. I'm told NAMM members can give out guest passes to anyone not just employees.
