1998 Martin 00-16 DBR/WAM Series
« on: June 04, 2016, 11:35:37 AM »

I have available a very nice 1998 Martin 00-16 DBR/WAM Series guitar, #238/900.  Purchased used from Ted @ LAGuitar about a year ago, in excellent condition.  Nothing on the guitar has changed, save the strings...lol.  I purchased a new top of the line TKL tweed arched case for it, (which fits like a glove), because the case it came in had a sloppy fit, and was a bit beat up.  This is the guitar series that introduced the Martin 00 Deep Body to the world.  Dreadnaught depth in a small body equals BIG sound.  1 11/16" bone nut and bone saddle.  Has the normal bumps and bruises of a guitar of this age that has been played, and are minor.  No buckle rash on the beautiful EI Rosewood back, which features a matching inlaid wood backstrip to the rosette on the Sitka Spruce top. 14 fret, slotted headstock, Waverly tuners.  She is beautiful, and a fine example of what Martin can do aesthetically.  The leather strap shown in the pic is not included, however...I have the same strap in chocolate brown that is brand new that I will throw in as case candy for the lucky buyer.

Honestly, I am selling because my old, arthritic hands just cannot do the narrower nut any longer.  I have picked up another small-bodied guitar with a wider nut that allows me to continue to play with minimal discomfort, and this lovely guitar has been sitting in it's case ever since...which is a waste.  Time to let someone else enjoy it.

$1500 shipped/insured CONUS to your door! I can accept PayPal, but since I will have to pay the fees, you will cover the shipping, as is customary. Only trade considered would be for a Taylor 12 fret 522, no electronics/cutaway.  Thanks for looking!

GLWS (Good Luck With Sale), Lisa.  This looks really nice, and is a good value.  But I just sold off my last Martin (of four) two weeks ago.  As "Arthur" starts to affect my hands too, I cannot play Martin 1-11/16" necks for long without pain either.  Funny that I can play Taylor necks for hours, but 20-30 minutes on a standard Martin and my hand aches for hours.  Subtle differences in neck shape and nut width can really become important.
Taylors:  424-LTD (all koa) and a 114ce that lives with friends in Alaska.  Low maintenance carbon fiber guitars are my "thing" these days, but I will always keep the koa 424.  Several ukulele and bass guitars too.
*Gone but not forgotten:  a 2001 414ce, 410, 354-LTD twelve string, 314-N, 416-LTD baritone, T5 Classic, 615ce, 2006 GS-K, 1996 (first year) Baby

Thanks Earl...I literally feel your pain...lol.  Yep, the Taylor 12 fret I have is so much easier on my hands than the Martin is.
