hi Phil.
thanks for sharing about yourself & for posting some pics -
i especially like the 712, as it looks very 'clean', sans pickguard

i have an 84 612 & 91 412, a barcus berry UST was in the 6 &
i installed a LR Baggs Element active (pre VTC) in the 412 :)

good to see you here & thanks for hanging out with us

Thanks Geoff, I haven't been to Banks before so I'll check them out next time I am in York, although I'm not sure whether I really should, I'm already having a cupboard modified to store all my guitars at the correct humidity and temperature (a Simon and Patrick 12 string, my very old Ovation, a travel guitar and a Mexican Strat as well as the Taylors) and I'm not sure it'll have enough space for any more!!  Generally we tend to gravitate more to Sheffield because my wife loves all things Apple and it has a large Apple store at Meadowhall...

Michael, I too really like the look of the 712 over the 812, it's particularly nice at the moment as it was polished by Taylor during it's recent upgrade - it sounds pretty good too!  Sorry the photo's are small, I'll try to do better next time!

Well, I didn't think I'd create any comment when I chose Fellrunner as my name for this forum - I was just bored with Philg that I usually use - let alone find another fell runner!  I note you are from Shropshire, we have friends in Church Stretton and I love the Stretton Skyline fell run, do you know it?  I run the route whenever we go to stay and have played my Taylor with the band I am in in an open air gig on the Church Stretton playing fields a couple of times, once as the race was finishing (I was miffed to have had to miss it!).

Hey there Phil,
Love the Church Stretton area. We are up there quite often for walking - Long Mynd, Wild Moor, Caer Caradoc, The Lawley, etc. Never done that run though. My 'competitive' running days are in the past now, I'm afraid. That pic was taken on a run in the Lake District (Derwentwater). I think I got 1st place for my age category! Those were the days....
Cheers.

Sadly I'm not getting any younger myself!!  Still the less I run, the more time I will have to enjoy playing guitar!

Welcome Phil! I grew up in Oklahoma but my grandparents lived many years just down the road from you in Grimsby. Hope to visit England one of these days.

Phil - thank you for posting the pictures of your guitars! Very nice patina developing on your 712 top. Also, I love the photos showing where you run (the valley is breath-taking) as well as the explanation of what fellrunning is. If you have a photo album with additional photos of where you run, I would really enjoy seeing those!

Me too! The view there is amazing, and I'd like to see more with how the paths work their way over the terrain!

Cindy and John429 - I'm surprised, amused and a little embarrassed that you guys are interested in my fell pictures (actually they were taken by my brother in law who often is my running partner)!  Posting photo's on the web is new to me but I have just set up a Flikr account to post photos on this forum so I'll work out how to add some more, make them public and post on this thread when I have done so with a link.  Work and musical commitments mean it may take a few days, but I'll do my best!

I think I've managed to upload some more fellrunning photo's onto my Flickr account.  I hope this is a hyperlink to the relevant web page http://www.flickr.com/photos/74131422@N04/sets/72157629030084693/.  It isn't always sunny, I just don't tend to get the camera out when its cloudy or raining!
