New forum member, long time Taylor guitar player
« on: March 21, 2016, 05:21:17 PM »
Hi, my name is Geoff from San Diego. I am a long time Taylor guitar(s) player/owner. I joined the forum a little while back and this is a first post to introduce myself.

My first Taylor was a 1998 Baby Taylor that I've since traded (only to buy another one several years ago, for my son to learn guitar). My second Taylor is a 2001 714ce Custom Shop with Cedar top and what I believe is Cocobolo back and sides, which I acquired in a trade. I'll have to post pictures of this one. That guitar made me fall in love with Taylor sound and quality.

I now also have a 2014 814ce ES2, a 2010 Limited 814ce 12-fret, GS Mini e-RW, and most recently I added a 2012 GAce-FLTD with Quilted Sapele back and sides and European Spruce top to the collection. :)

Welcome Geoff! Don't know how you CAN'T be a Taylor supporter, being from San Diego. You've got a impressive stable of Taylors.....and we LOVE to see pictures of them....so feel free to show any or all of them off to us.

My bank account would be in SO much trouble if I lived that close to the factory, and that special new Taylor room at the nearby GC.  Welcome.
Taylors:  424-LTD (all koa) and a 114ce that lives with friends in Alaska.  Low maintenance carbon fiber guitars are my "thing" these days, but I will always keep the koa 424.  Several ukulele and bass guitars too.
*Gone but not forgotten:  a 2001 414ce, 410, 354-LTD twelve string, 314-N, 416-LTD baritone, T5 Classic, 615ce, 2006 GS-K, 1996 (first year) Baby

Thanks for the nice welcomes. I like the use of "motherland" - I've done the Taylor factory tour four times. It's definitely the best free tour one can take. :)

I've attached a few pics of the custom 714ce. Please pardon the glare in some of the shots.

I don't play this guitar anymore, although it got me to invest in other Taylors, which I do play regularly. There's a little bit of a backstory on this 714ce. I got it from a friend who did some work at Bob Taylor's residence. As part of his payment for services, Mr. Taylor personally selected the wood for this guitar. My friend wasn't much into Cedar tops and so traded the guitar to me.

Welcome!

Wow!  That's one of the more interesting -- if not unique -- Cocobolo backs I've seen!  Can't recall ever seeing a three-piece back on a Cocobolo-bodied Taylor before.

I've got one of the 2012 GAce-FLTD guitars as well; those are one of the gems among the Taylor Limited Edition guitars.  Enjoy!
