Hello from Ohio
« on: December 30, 2011, 03:10:17 PM »
I'm new to this forum and new to playing guitar (just within the last 3 months).  I started learning on my daugther's Ovation and although that was fine, I quickly realized that it was increasingly hard to grab chords, etc. and I started looking for my own "baby", so to speak.

Anyway, I just purchased a Taylor 114E yesterday (yay for me!).

I'm a novice but I am really enjoying learning something new and hope you will all tolerate my questions and comments.

Thanks for inviting me!!

Hi survivorgirl and welcome to the forum! :)

Quite often a Taylor is not a new player's first choice of guitar for themselves simply because there are many other guitars that are less expensive. The nice thing with all Taylors is that they are made for low action and an ease for fretting chords which is beneficial for both beginners and advanced players. Congratulations on selecting an excellent first guitar! 8) Hope to see you around! :D

Hello survivor girl! Welcome to the forum. As Cindy said, the selection of a Taylor with it's typical low action should be a nice benefit for you as you begin your wonderful journey playing the acoustic guitar. So glad you're here and I look forward to seeing you on the forum :)

Welcome to the forum!
It's great to see other novice guitarists here (I am one, as well).
You'll find that everyone is welcome here and treated with kindness and respect, whether you've been playing for 40 years and have CD's with your name on it, or if you're a newbie!

Also, if you have any difficulty with your guitar, take it in to a proper luthier or tech for a setup, even a brand new Taylor may need to be adjusted to suit you and your style.
Again, welcome!
:)

Hello survivorgirl,

We are glad you dropped in to join us.  Gald you have found a hobby to express yourself and create all kinds of enjoyment.  Beware though as it can get expensive down the road as so many here can attest to.  It is still a lovely journey for each of us to be on.
