(Another) Great Guitar Day
« on: October 25, 2015, 04:09:59 PM »
Played with the worship team today...electric lead guitar, electric rhythm guitar, electric bass, keyboard, drums, six singers...and me on my 2012 BTO Engelmann/quilted maple GA. The guitar sounded great and cut through the mix beautifully (plugged into the PA system). Played a lot of tasty licks, trading off with the electric lead guitar. Lots of energy and lots of smiles from the singers. What a great day of worship and enjoying my "Halloween" guitar!

sf

that is one beauteous guitar.  usually i'm not partial to x-burst finishes on acoustic guitars, but the burst really complements and highlights the maple textures.  glad to hear it sounds great too.

That's a purty one, "SF."

I agree with "donlyn:"  I don't know whether it's my imagination, but it seems that a lot of the standard 600-Series guitars I've seen with a colored or "burst" finish don't have very prominent figuring/quilting in the Maple; yours is definitely a looker!  Nicely marbled Ebony on the fretboard too!

Thanks for the kind words guys. I have yet to test drive a new 614, but it's difficult to imagine swapping this one out for a newer version. I'm very pleased, not only with my aesthetic choices, but also with its acoustic and plugged in sound.

It's a beauty! :) Is that a tobacco burst? If it is, I haven't seen many maple Taylors with that burst color. It seems Taylor does more of the honey-burst for maple guitars.

Yes, it's a tobacco burst finish - love the vintage vibe of that look.

The quilted maple and tobacco-burst is gorgeous on the back and sides . I love how the neck is  hit with the burst ,too. Also like the binding What is it?  Beautiful guitar !!!

The binding is koa - the cool thing about it is that it offers a lighter contrast to the dark areas of the burst and a darker contrast to the lighter areas of the burst - nerdy, eh?
