I need a size 12...
« on: July 02, 2015, 02:15:03 PM »
Steel toed work boot kick in the rear for letting a guitar get away. Friday I saw online that my local store had a 2015 612ce 12 fret at a huge discount. It was a demo model. No factory warranty, but did have a 1 year warranty from the store. Thought about Friday night and all day Sat. They are closed Sun. and Mon. Tuesday I couldn't get there. Wed. morning I looked online and it was sold. Called to confirm, and it had sold online, late Tuesday. It was priced 2/3's of new.
2016 322e 12 Fret
2011 312ce
2012 GS-Mini hog
1983 Washburn D 12S
Yamaha Classical
Ukulele's out the ying yang.
2014 Larivée PO-3 Koa

I sympathize.  I haven't been as intrigued with a new Taylor offering in a while.  My entree into Taylordom was the 614, and 95% of my guitar playing lately has been on 00 or 000 (GC-sized) 12-fret guitars (the other 5%--my size 2 Martin) .  Can't wait to get my hands on a 612.
CURRENTLY PLAYING

'30 Martin 2-17 solid Mahogany
'97 Tacoma PK-30 Sitka/koa
'99 Alhambra 11C classical cedar/EIR
'05 TAYLOR 614ce
'07 Breedlove Atlas 12-string Sitka/Mahogany
'10 Froggy Bottom "C" Adi/Brazilian
'11 TAYLOR BTO GC 12-fret sinker/EIR.
'14 Alvarez Baritone Sitka/Mahogany
'18 Cordoba hybrid Flamenco Euro Spruce/Ziricote
'23 M. Colbert Baritone Alaskan Sitka/Black Limba multiscale with Manzer wedge

So far I have not tried any of the newly re-voiced 600's.  I have been deliberately avoiding my local guitar store until at least three more of mine sell.

I hate the "one that got away" feeling........   :-\    I still remember a really nice Martin D-28-12 that played as easy as most six strings and I didn't move on it in time.  And that was probably 1989.  When I ran across my 354 12-er a few years ago that also played that easily, I sure did not repeat that mistake.
Taylors:  424-LTD (all koa) and a 114ce that lives with friends in Alaska.  Low maintenance carbon fiber guitars are my "thing" these days, but I will always keep the koa 424.  Several ukulele and bass guitars too.
*Gone but not forgotten:  a 2001 414ce, 410, 354-LTD twelve string, 314-N, 416-LTD baritone, T5 Classic, 615ce, 2006 GS-K, 1996 (first year) Baby

Don't beat yourself up too much over missing it.

...or my theory, there was a reason you didn't get that guitar.....something better is out there for you. Just give it time.

i also subscribe to the emptiness of the one that got away.  about 45 years ago played a 12 string i liked a lot.  slept on it and went back the next day.  gone.  bought a les paul and went electric.  fast forward 30 years.  played another 12 string i liked a lot.  having learned my lesson, i asked the dealer to hold it for a few hours while i stewed on it.  went back later and bought it and got a good deal.  still have it (taylor 355) and going strong.

so no, while there may be another deal next month,  don't think it will ever be the same, but it's not the end of the world either.  just had to wait 30 years.  especially if you're picky.

so i did give it time, susie.  ;)

Saw a newer 712ce sunburst with ES on eBay a couple months ago for about $xxxx Buy it Now but I was too chicken to pull the trigger.  Dumm, just dumm.  (so dumm, it's spelled wrong).
