NGD - GSmini Mahogany
« on: April 20, 2015, 04:57:30 AM »
Hey folks,

I've been wanting this since I bought my 814ce. I don't want to travel and bring out my 814 during drinking sessions and outdoor trips so I thought the GSmini would be great addition.
First off, love the size of it. It's so much fun to play and doodle with around the house or during drinking sessions with friends. This will travel with me a lot during out of town and vacations. It sounds and plays amazing as well! The fretboard takes a little bit of getting used to, but I don't mind it. I can't wait to go home today!

Thanks for reading/looking.

Best regards,
Nims

Mine serve the same purpose. Fun to play in jam sessions and they hold their own nicely. Mine also get a lot of miles on them. You'll love having it. Congrats.

I end up getting more time on my Mini's than anything else due to travel and commitments. They really are great little guitars.

Love mine as well. I take it with me every place I go. I have taken it out of the case a few time during those long layovers. The people don't seem to mine. Some day I may put a cup down with a buck or 2 and see if anyone follows suit... :).. kidding

love my mini hog too.....can't see ever selling it.....in addition to the above stated uses for our minis, I also use mine for my "learning sessions", the hr or two of strumming to get a new song down..... just last week I decided to let my local shop look over my mini and we tweaked the neck, brought those strings down a bit and man, it's even more fun now, and I think that adjustment even made it easier to tune and "hold it's tune".....have fun, maybe I'll hear your "mini" concert at an airport someday!

Exactly, Bob. I had that concern when I had only the 814ce. I don't even bring the 814 out in drinking sessions. The GSmini would be do the trick! When I get a little tipsy, that's the time my guitar goes back to the case I guess!

I bought the Mini for that same reason.   Perfect for bringing to the lake, or heading the park with a few brews.

Mine is just the standard, non-hog model...

However, I have become a big fan of mahogany recently ;)

Congrats, love the grain!

For those who have tweaked action, and have noticed that the Mini has some room for improvement towards playability, what did you do, and how did you adjust it to play close to your regular Taylors?

I love my Mini as well - I needed to quickly learn some songs for an upcoming session, so I just sat in front of my PC and played along with the YouTube recordings on my Mini. No fuss- no muss. Then I took one of its larger siblings to the actual gig. It worked out quite well!
My Taylor Grand Auditoriums:

1997 Cujo14 - old growth cedar/black walnut
2014 K24e - master grade koa
2018 Custom GA - bear claw sitka spruce/mahogany
2019 614 - torrified sitka spruce/flamed maple
2020 714 - lutz spruce/rosewood

Very nice looking guitar. My first Taylor was a mini, a Holden Village model. I love mine.
