Picked up 110
« on: May 07, 2015, 06:59:06 PM »

I know it's not much but it sounds great and it's got the strangest wide grain top looks like Adirondack no it can't be but much more yellow than most Sitka and sounds great with awesome sustain. Sometimes you get one that just sounds right.

Hey, if it's the one, then it's a great guitar. Congrats!

I bought a no-frills 110 about two years ago as my "beater" guitar and grew to really love it. I love the fact that you can pound the living TAR out of it and it says "Is that all you've got?"  ;D

It is a guitar built to play very aggressively which isn't my style, but when the urge comes, it's good to have the option.

Congratulations on finding a fine 110.  I tried one out a few years ago and couldn't believe how loud it was, a cannon!  Welcome to the Taylor family! 8)

Absolutely nothing wrong with the 100 series.  I like my 114ce, and others who have heard it agree.  It is loud and bright and cuts through in a jam nicely.  I wish there had been something at that quality level / price point back in 1984 when I was searching for my first "good" guitar.
Taylors:  424-LTD (all koa) and a 114ce that lives with friends in Alaska.  Low maintenance carbon fiber guitars are my "thing" these days, but I will always keep the koa 424.  Several ukulele and bass guitars too.
*Gone but not forgotten:  a 2001 414ce, 410, 354-LTD twelve string, 314-N, 416-LTD baritone, T5 Classic, 615ce, 2006 GS-K, 1996 (first year) Baby

Enjoy the guitar.  Love playing my 150e.  It's the guitar I use in my band.  It's nice enough that my band mate had me help her pick out a 114e so she could have a better guitar.

If it speaks to you... it's magic and you will play it and make music. That's what counts.

It was a 110 that started me on my Taylor journey.  It is in my opinion a excellent guitar.
