Eight.
My current six, plus a Taylor Baby and a 355.

Susie I need you to impart some wisdom on my husband!!! I just want your Koa masterpiece  :P 8)
Tell him I said you NEED it.  Maybe he needs to talk to my husband. I had talked myself out of the K24 and my husband insisted. Who was I to argue.

Definitely talk to TaylorGirl's husband . When I wanted to buy her K24's big brother  a K26, he said I deserve it . So I showed the email  to my wife and now its sitting in the guitar stand next to me. Sorry I can't help out with your numbers since I only own and have ever only owned the two Taylors listed below. I think my wife's statement was "wow what a beautiful guitar ... um, you're not buying another one anytime soon,  are you" ( note the lack of a question mark at the end of the quote. )

But I agree , you and I are the minority as proven by this site.

I've owned two,...still have one.

Only three guitars in the house,...period, that's it,...no more.

Unless I could lay my hands on a 522, 12 fret, to actually hold and play, spend some quiet time together. Perhaps I could make some room.

Uh, let's just say that it looks like "michaelw" and I are running neck-and-neck (no pun intended)...  I'm just going to refer you to my signature and leave the counting to you -- bearing in mind that I can't add any more text to my signature, but I continue to add to the collection...

i'm not as bad as i once was -
22 currently & hoping to get it down to 20 (sell 5 , then add 3)

including the ones i've sold over the past 12 years (over 70 - lost count) -
closing in on 100, all told, & no, i haven't bought one with the
intention of selling it to make a few bucks on it from the get go

Holy cow! I'm speechless.
i am definitely blessed to have a wide variety of axes in the arsenal,
but there many things that are more important, imho, & the ride
was not always fun & games, with a good # of bumps in the road

If I told him I had talked myself out of a guitar, he would respond with either "finally" or "did you find a more expensive one instead?"

Michaelw - wonder if anyone can come close to that! 20 guitars! How do you decide which to play!
lately it's been more of a appreciation of tone & aesthetics,
restringing, tuning & get some TLC done that was needed

i'm sure that there are other members that have exceeded both total # & current
arsenal level, maybe not in terms of exact #s, but definitely by total $s invested -
play what you like, buy what you love, share &
enjoy very minute with those that you care about

happy new year, all :)
it's not about what you play,
it's all about why you play ...

Current stable is 6 acoustics, 6 electrics.  I didn't plan the even split ...just how it ended up. :)

Likewise, I have gone through the gamut of guitars over the decades (though clearly not nearly close to 70 as Michael, but sure it was a good sum) and am uber happy with what I've arrived at.  Heck, I don't even dream of new guitars anymore ...go figure!  But I did go through a similar acquire/collect/refocus/purge/retain-the-keepers process with amps and pedals so maybe I was just as sick ...lol ;)

But as it stands now, it is truly wonderful to be satisfied with the gear one has: no wants, and no desire to streamline ...juuuust riiiight.  Now if there's anything I "want" it's more time to play.  Still, "blessed" definitely sums it up :D

Tim and Michael..... Do you guys have a favorite in your fleet? If so, I am curious what makes it your favorite. With a collection that big you should have plenty of stunning guitars and great sounding ones, so is there a sentimental reason for the favorite?

Guitarcowboy - I am familiar with that disappearing question mark. Certainly used it once or twice in our house, but I think my husband is learning the proper deployment of it!

Hmm.  I guess the one that leaps to my mind is my Custom GA (Sitka/Makore).  That's not to say that the choice is easy, or that I don't have another guitar (or three) that aren't close contenders -- my Custom GS-12's, BR-V, and 614ce-LTD are high on the list as well.  And I'd truly hate to part with my Liberty Tree Guitar, solely because of the historic connection it has to the birth of the United States.

But if you held a gun to my head and told me I had to part with all but one, I think my Custom GA Makore is the one I'd have to hold onto...  I think partly because the wood is so unusual and potentially un-replaceable; partly because the tone is right in my true zone of preference (bright with just a touch of warmth); and partly because it was my first Taylor -- and the guitar that introduced me to Taylors in general.

While I'm truly enamored with the story behind the Liberty Tree Guitars, there are others out there; the body (Grand Concert) isn't as suited to my playing style; and the tone, while fine, isn't as appealing as other guitars in my collection.
