Fingerstyle Recording Taylor GS Mini Mahogany
« on: October 25, 2014, 10:48:43 AM »
Hey Folks,

I have a GS Mini Mahogany with Thomastik Infeld Classic S strings. They're warm and very mellow and I love them. Kind of a nylon/steel hybrid. Sounds great when I play it, though I've had a hard time getting a really good recording playing fingerstyle. Probably due to my cardiod patterned LCD mic, but I'm getting a new mic this weekend.

Does anyone have a recording of themselves playing this guitar? Would love to hear anything at all - particularly close intimate fingerstyle.

Thanks a lot!

Quick followup - Bought an omni mic so I wouldn't have any proximity effect. Still have crazy amount of 120khz boom with my Taylor GS Mini, even recording a foot way with an omni mic. And my room is not boomy. It's long, wooden floors, pretty open.

Anyone else have issues with the GS Mini Mahogany being boomy recorded?

I recorded this with my GS Mini mahogany. Not a very good performance. I was trying to remember what mic I used but I can't. Sorry. But here's a recording nonetheless.
