NGD-WhooHoo!!!!
« on: June 18, 2014, 03:21:36 PM »
Hi All
Finally became a proud Taylor owner today. Been wanting one for ages.  Having a week off work so went and had a good three hours trying out acoustics in a local guitar store.
Had a budget and as I`m only a home player couldn't justify spending more than that.  Tried a 214ce, 214ce Koa, 314ce, 414ce, 416ce and a 5 series.(Couldn't do that within budget).
Finally decided on the 214ce Koa. It just sounded right, felt right and looked right. I was surprised to be honest, I played them all, got the guy in the store to play them to me, didn't do the blindfold test, but to my ears the 214 was the one. Might just be the first of a few, ok so its at the lower end of the range but I`m a happy bunny right now!! Plus I`ve got some kudos left over
towards the next one!!!!  Oh dear!!!!

Way to go, a1terrier!  It's funny how it can work out that way.  You try them all and find one that's actually cheaper that sounds best to your ear.  That's happened to me and it's a pleasant surprise!  Hope you have years of fun with your new koa!

Congratulations on your new (first) Taylor. You've been bitten by the same bug as most of us.....when you get one, you start planning for the next one, then the next one.... Be proud of it, it's a Taylor and it's beautiful.

It's great when the one that "sings" to you isn't the most expensive. That happened for me for my most recent "last" guitar when I actually liked the sound of the 414 SLTD better than the higher series. I hope you enjoy the many hours, days and years of playing this guitar and it's future brothers and sisters.

nice A1 ! nothing wrong with a 214ce. great guitars. since a guitars tone is purely subjective, you got the one that sounded best to you. I commend you for resisting the urge to buy a "better" one just because the price tag was higher " surely the more it costs, the better it will sound !".
again.... pics or it didn't happen. ;D ;D

Congratulation on your new Taylor.. I'm kinda fond of the 214 myself.. for the price you can't beat it. I bet the Koa sounds beautiful.
Now.. like TaylorGirl says. Go find yourself a GS Mini of some nature. You love it too.
Everyone seams to have one .. or 2.. or 3 mini's.

My lord, what fancy inlays it has!  Those were one used on 500s and above only.  I had no idea the upgrades afforded the 200s these days, cool.

Huge right on to that!!!
And FWIW, no need to ever make any "apologies" for the 100/200 line.   These are great guilts in their own right and completely hold their own, IMHO.  100% Taylor goodness: much to celebrate there :D
