Wow!  That's a really nice-looking Dreadnought!  Very interesting wood!  The only thing I don't like about it is that it doesn't have a cutaway -- but then you'd lose some of the visual symmetry with the wood grain on the back, so it may be just as well...

Of the 'big three' (Rosewood, Mahogany, Maple), what's the closest wood to which you'd compare the tone?
to me, it looks like tineo seems to be quite close to khaya -
perhaps with just a little more dampening, due to the difference in weight ???

& bigleaf maple

seem to be closer, in terms of weight, hardness & stiffness, than east indian rosewood

or cocobolo

at least on paper, anyways -
faux tortoiseshell was used on the rosette & binding on the m522s

I was wondering when you were going to post that... nice pictures of an even nicer guitar!

Davwir gave me a little chance to play this guitar at the Sale. I agree with him that it's something special. I'd never before heard of tineo, but it was easy to tell this guitar was unusual even if the wood had been something more common. I'm not sure I would've even noticed it visually amongst all the others that day, but I'm glad you did.

(I'm still enjoying my BR-VII!)

Davwir, your guitars kill me.  First the ziricote and now this tineo, which I had yet to even hear of.  Just amazing.  Love the top as well and I always love understated bling.
