Greetings from Spain and Wales!
« on: October 29, 2013, 08:50:08 AM »
Hello Taylor guitar people!! and greetings from a sunny and warm Spain :) I also live part of my time in cold and wet Wales :-\, but hey, 10 months of the year out here ain't too bad!!
I am a retired pro musician and have joined a band of fellow yachties in forming a band called the Campoverde Reef Band. We play only to raise money for local charities here in Spain and have so far raised over €6,000.
I own 2 Larrivee acoustics (sorry about that!!)- one an L-03 and the other a custom made LV-09 with Italian Spruce top, Rosewood back and sides and a seahorse headstock carved by Wendy Larrivee. (yes, I splashed the cash!!). I intend selling my L-03 and switching to Taylor to probably get a 210E. Any thoughts on this guitar would be gratefully received!!
I am a big fan of Barenaked Ladies and bought Larrivees because the main man, Ed Robertson, played them. I think he eventually wore them out on the road and has now switched to Taylor - so I must follow the great man!!!
Hope to hear from you guys out there
Best wishes to you all
Huw

that 210e should do you well. nice little guitars. nothing wrong with Larrivees either, we're not snooty guitar snobs here. most of us own a few different brands.
welcome in !

Thank you for your welcome messages. Will post if a new Taylor arrives before Christmas - a higher authority has to be consulted first!!!

Hi Huw. Bienvenido. Where in Spain are you located? I was stationed in Torrejon de Ardoz (Madrid) for almost 3 years. "Vamos a la playa" usually meant going to Benidorm. Ibiza was one of my favorite destinations when we could talk a friend into flying us over. Anyhow, glad you found us. We've got some Larrivee owners and fans within our ranks. Someone might even recommend a carbon fiber guitar. :o Ya never know. Enjoy. :)

Hola Codeblue!!
We live in a place called Pilar de la Horadada, which is near to San Javier on the Mar Menor. Torrevieja is our nearest large town and Benidorm isn't too far away! We're 10 minutes from the beach and are able to go sailing most days! :)
Haven't heard of a carbon fibre guitar - could be interesting!

that one's my Adamas 2080sr. Rainsong also makes some great ones as well as Emerald and Carbon Acoustic(CA).
no humidity issues to deal with. i've sat outside in the freezing NY winter and played it without any effect on it's tone... but i am a really rare kind of stupid... momma calls me "special".

I've been daydreaming about Spain all day. I could go for a pitcher of sangria (don't forget to add some Larios), a fresh pan of paella, and some flamenco music right about now. :)
