I posted about waiting for a GS-Mini-QS, and that's true. But, way back in the day (1966) when I graduated from HS and was teaching myself acoustic guitar in the middle of the Folk Music revival, I bought a Martin D12-20 from our local music store. Thinking back, it must have been used as I don't remember any paperwork other than the BOS. Prior to that I had a 12-string my Mom had bought me, which grew a speed bump at the soundhole which almost touched the strings (no kidding!), and I just had to upgrade THAT! I remember that Mom paid $50 for it new as my birthday prezzie in 1965. Neither one of us knew brands or quality and, well, we ended up getting what we paid for. But, I was learning! The Martin was the first guitar I had bought myself and my friends all said if I was serious, get a Martin and do it right. Well, off to college I went in September 1966, Martin in hand. By Graduation, the Martin was a memory, sold sometime my Junior year.
Now, in the interest of getting back to my home base, I'm going to seek out a 1965 or 1966 D12-20 and I'm NOT going to sell it this time
