Had to do it
« on: September 07, 2013, 03:38:54 PM »
I decided to bling out my 416Ce a little bit. I installed ebony bridge pins with abalone dots. Very nice and only 13 bucks from taylor. I also installed Daddario EJ17 strings and they sound (too me) like what the Taylor 416CE-LTD should have came with.

Yes, those ebony pins with the abalone sure do make a difference in appearance, don't they? Looks nice! :D

Oh absolutely, IMHO!  I love Taylor's eb/ab endpins!  I even did it on my scarred-up, fading fin '99 babyT :D

What was the sound difference? I'm assuming you had the Elixir 80/20's on before. Have you tried the Phosphor Bronze? How would they compare to what you are using now? Thanks

My favorite strings are:

Daddario EJ17
Dunlop PBs
Dean Markley Blue Steel

They all sound much better that the Elixirs that came on my rig. Brighter, louder and deeper. I do like what coated strings are about and will try them (various brands) when I run out of my current sets of EJ17s. But for now, the EJ17s are what my 416CE-LTD needs. (please note the wood of this guitar might have something to do with the Elixirs sounding almost muted)
